New Fruit Fly Control Technology Trial Supports Local Agriculture
Recently, the District Agricultural Comprehensive Management Service Center actively explored new green prevention and control technologies and carried out field control effectiveness tests to solve problems for the majority of citrus growers.
Citrus fruit fly, commonly known as "citrus maggot", is an important pest that harms citrus, and its control effect directly affects the economic income of fruit farmers. In the Laoding Orchard of Xiashu Village, Xueyan Town, agricultural technology experts taught fruit farmers on-site the prevention and control methods of fruit fly bisexual baits and checked the trapping effect. It is reported that the fruit fly bisexual bait is a new green prevention and control product. It is used in conjunction with a matching special trap to trap fruit flies through "food lures" to achieve non-contact pest control of agricultural products.
Ding Wenxin, the person in charge of Laoding Orchard in Xiashu Village, Xueyan Town: After using the bisexual fruit fly bait, there is no need to apply pesticides on the fruit trees, because pesticides will remain on the fruit after they are mature, which is not good for the human body. Now that the bisexual fruit fly bait is used, there are basically no insects on the fruit.
Zhou Dan, Chief of the Plant Protection Section of the District Agricultural Comprehensive Management Service Center: If it is feasible in the next step, we hope to promote it throughout the district to enrich green prevention and control technologies.
